Another one of my favorite places - Onomea Bay. I used to come down here when I was a kid. Lots of fishing and Opihi picking. Now I get to show it off to Travel Buddy!

The semi after and some exciting news!

Consider my last post the 'before' and this post the 'semi-after'! I did a down and dirty remodel (aka lots of mats on the floor and flowers everywhere) and am now enjoying a tropical island style studio. Think trading spaces meets dorm room decorating local style! Here's the exciting news: Travel Buddy lands today! Hopefully, he's down with geckos and the neighbors chickens getting loose! Welcome to Hilo Travel Buddy!!!!

The latest project

Shopping for paint and boric acid today. The family has a new project! We're tricking out a basement unit. I should say we're taking 'plantation funk' and turning it into charming 'tropical elegance'. Wish us luck!!!!

Hilo Rain.

It rains A LOT in Hilo. Sometimes, I think we secretly love it not just because it keeps us fresh and green but because it means we're not a huge tourist destination. We are pretty much just a pit stop on the way to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. As far as I'm concerned the rain can stay. I'll stay curled up with a book and a cup of tea....really, I don't mind!

Akaka Falls

Yesterday I took my guests on a drive to show off the Hamakua Coast. Whenever I'm home this is where I spend the majority of my time.

Easter!

Happy Easter!!!! You know what is even more exciting than it being Easter? Having family here to spend it with! Yay Cousin Rhiannon!

It's also a great excuse to prettify the dining room table for breakfast!
