Happy Hilo Town

I made it home to Hilo!  I flew in on the last flight Saturday evening.

Thank you for transporting me safely Hawaiian Airlines!

I woke up first thing Sunday morning and attended the Sunrise Service.  The time change was majorly in my favor because by 0400 I was bright eyed and bushy tailed.  Unfortunately as we got to the waterfall site – which was gorgeous – with a waterfall in the background and a panoramic ocean view – it started to rain and the wind was majorly thrashing…so we ended up in a pavilion…still cool.

Umauma Falls complete with raindrops :)

I’m sure many of you don’t want to hear this…but following the sunrise service I went home to put on warmer clothes.  I was freezing!  Once I had on jeans and a sweater I figured I may as well attend the regular morning service.  I was so glad I did!  I ended up hiding the eggs for the hunt!  Turns out hiding them is waaay more fun than finding them!

This was the 'little kid' field...the older kids had it a bit harder.

Who needs a basket?! Just fill up your shirt!

After church I went home and changed my clothes again.  By 1100 the sun was out and the day was gorgeous.  I went to a friends house for his annual Easter Luau.  It was such an amazing way to slide into the back at home groove.  There were about 150 people eating, drinking, talking and having fun.  There were TONS of kids and the food was ONO(delicious)!

A princess with a tangled balloon...and a cooler with beer....welcome to Puna, HI!

The thing about too many kids on a trampoline is that someone always ends up crying...

Warabi...basically fern shoots, onions, tomatoes marinated in soy sauce....thats the simple explanation...my Step-Dad's is way yummier...but it was still a nice treat :)

I ended the day at my Parents house for a totally delicious ham dinner.  I love spending time in my old house!  It has views to die for!  I can sit in the side yard and space out over lovely Hilo town for hours on end.

Sleepy Hilo Town…
The family hang out.

Talk about a totally perfect day.  I couldn’t have asked for a better first day home!

  1. I remember that view from your mom and dad’s house. That was such a special Easter. Loved the sunrise service. Wish I was there again.

  2. @Kay – I wish you were here too! My Mom and I were also remembering your Easter visit….let’s do it again some time!
