Link Love :: It's about time!

I have been neglecting to share my internet finds!  Enjoy Nautie Friends!

For some reason I've always loved Paul Newman - although I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie.  When I saw these photos of Paul with his wife Joanne Woodward it made me love him even more.

Mona Simpson, Steve Jobs' sister gave him a eulogy that was incredibly moving.

I loved this:  What Would Best Case Scenario Me Do?

As you know, I love hydrangeas.  I think someday I'll try giving hydrangeas a bath.

This is how I feel on vacation - sometimes I'm amazed that I know how to work!

I've always dreamed of opening a tea shop....but a traveling tea parlour might be waaaay cooler.

I've been listening to The Beach Boys album that has just been released called SMiLE.  It's a little strange....think The Beach Boys + The Beatles.....they might have been on drugs.....I would categorize it as awesome.

I ordered myself some new business cards - I now have a casual card and a professional card.  I could shop at moo all day long....it's all part of my office supply fetish.

Lastly, I LOVED this Nerd Win.

Link Love :: Pinterest Edition

Pinterest.com was a link that I love love loved back in February.  I spend waaaay too much time on Pinterest - but I find SO many neat ideas, pretty pictures, and style ideas!  I love, love, love it (yes Johnny, so much that I'd marry it)!  Here are some of my recent Pinterest discoveries!

Have you ever had old t-shirts that you absolutely COULD NOT part with - but you had no idea what to do with since you never wear them?!  Turn them into bags!  Pure genius.

If I was home I'd be baking this bread....pretty much right now so I could eat some ASAP.

This clutch is fabulous....Hilo ladies - imagine it with some sig zane fabric!

I'm not much of a knitter - but if I was, this little project would be at the top of my list.

This Letterpress card totally cracked me up - probably because I'm a Preacher's Kid with a warped sense of humor....

Canoodle Lounging Chair?!   MUST HAVE!!!!!! (Anyone who has seen me curl into a tiny ball in my Mom's white leather chair knows that this might be fate.)

I think Orange Goodness (I swear I should trademark that) just got a whole lot better.  (And yes, I totally just pinned my own photo so I could link up to it - heh heh.)

I'm going to end this here....I could go on forever!  (I'm mostly ending it because I can see the ship is swinging and I know I'm going to loose the internet any second....)

Link Love :: Sea Hag Edition

Everyday I get off watch at either 0400 or 0600....I go down to my stateroom and put on my pajamas and then I go and sit in my day room for a little bit and cruise the internet.  It helps me unwind and the internet is super duper fast because I'm pretty much the only person awake who's not on watch.  I can't even begin to describe to you how big of a luxury it is to have a day room.....let alone internet in my day room!!!!  I'm going to be spoiled for all other ships (unless I'm the Captain - heh heh)! It seems like when I'm out here I'm drawn to super girlie things....so this edition of link love isn't so much for the guys...but then again, is it ever really?

I'd love to be described as exquisite - wouldn't you?!  Here are some helpful hints!

Before I left Florida I was horribly addicted to the The Bachelorette.  I've linked to this chick before - she's ridiculously hilarious - and she's saved my life!!!  Check this series out:  The One Where I Watch The Bachelorette So You Don't Have To.

I would kill to be invited to a wine and cheese party....or even to be able to host one!  Check out these wine bottle labels from pinhole press!

Not into wine?  Or maybe you're preggers (huge shout out to my procreating bestie!)?  Serve water!  Check out these totally cute bottles of infused water!

I discovered a blog called **Happiness Is...** and it does make me a little happy inside when I read it!  What made me really happy was learning about this artist.  Remember how I told you about me cutting things out of magazines and then just saving them....or putting them up on my walls....well, awhile back I found some totally cool graphics in an 'O' Magazine - which I've been saving forever because they are too cool to use - and they look just like this!  Apparently it's called Quilling.  Love, love, love!

Sad news this week about Amy Winehouse.  I stumbled upon a tribute To Amy written by Russel Brand - it was simply beautiful....

That's it for now....here's some pink-y goodness to send you on your way.....

Happy Earth Day!

I honestly didn't remember that today was Earth Day until I started checking in with all my favorite blogs.  I've also never really done anything for the Earth on Earth Day. One year I went to a concert at the Mo'oheau Bandstand that was in celebration of Bob Marley's Birthday and Earth Day combined.  I found a flyer taped to a post that I ripped down and took with me.  In fact I've saved it forever....I took it to college with me...then I took it back home....and now I have it in my closet on my inspirational corkboard.  It says:

"I pledge allegiance to the earth, and all the life which it supports.  One planet in our care, irreplaceable, with sustenance and respect."

I've always loved this quote...and I can't tell you how much this battered piece of paper has meant to me over the years!

The Web was full of Earth Day link love.....

If you'd like a brief history of Earth Day Wikipedia provides a great one HERE.

Cool sustainability facts.

Shutter Sisters rocked today.  I loved their links....talk about a perfect Earth Day photo!

Poppytalk shared some Earthy links and ideas.

Did you run into any Earth Day gems today?

Link Love :: Palm Sunday Edition

Watch your thoughts!  It's like the book The Secret....with some homework. I love garden fresh herbs.  Garden fresh herbs in alcohol....yes please!

My Body Likes....what an interesting concept....it definitely got me thinking about what my body likes.

I love local legends!  New Zealand has so much in common with Hawaii.  Pania of the Reef was a new one for me but she definitely caught my fancy.  Slightly mermaid-ish, no?

I'm not a player, I just blog a lot.  Amen sister.  I need one of these.

One of my favorite sites posted 'Currently Crushing: a man's perspective'.  I read through it and thought 'Maybe a gay man'!  I think you'll all agree that these items are hardly 'manly'.  Just sayin'......

Terrariums showed up twice this week....I love terrariums and even had one as a kid that thrived.  Check out some twists on the classic terrarium here and here.

I read this and cried out 'Hallelujah'!  I'm a huge supporter of the public school system.  I plan on sending my kids to one and wish more people shared my belief that public schools prepare children for life and quit throwing money towards a system which promotes a sense of entitlement.

This is my brain on fear.  I've been struggling with this myself as of late....I do plan on blogging about my own brain on fear ;)

Ahhh Facebook.  Such a love hate relationship!  I think this is a good set of Facebook guidelines.  I'm finally starting to grow a Facebook backbone.  I will un-friend you if necessary!  Take that!

TOTALLY.

I saved the best (or at least what were my ultimate favorites this week) for last:

Jay-Z interviewed Gwenyth Paltrow.  Several things....first of all....read the interview here....she's mad cool.  Secondly, how wicked is his site Life + Times?!  Lastly, who knew Gwenyth Paltrow had her own site?  Check out GOOP....like I said....mad cool.

Did it feel like a really loooong week? :: You need some Link Love!

Here are some things I LOVED this week!

Nothing feels better than salty hair!  Sometimes after a long day at the beach I delay my shower as long as possible because I love that crunchy salty feeling :)

I've seen some totally cool tree houses in Hawaii - Waipio Valley has a tree house bed and breakfast.  These tree houses put the houses I've seen to shame!!  Some of them are inspiring!

I can't believe I'm about to admit this....but, my Dad is a minister.  The worst part is that I know diddly squat about the bible.  Seriously, I score terribly in the bible literacy department!  I ran across this group of nerdy jewish boys - they sing acapella songs about bible stories.  I felt like I came away a little bit bible smarter!  I don't really think I'd rock out to them on a routine basis....none the less rock on maccabeats!

I ran across a website called 'thoughtcatalog'.  I really liked it - it was offbeat and slightly 'off color' (that's my way of warning you that it's not for everyone....but I have a warped sense of humor).  When I logged on this morning it listed five things to do on a sunday - hallelujah!

Everyone has had that moment when they think 'I told you so, I told you so, and now you have to pay'!  These 'Dear Blank' letters totally cracked me up.

Of course I love this!  Sailing your boat metaphor?!  Sign me up!

Indiefixx posted a link about special collections.  I LOVED all the beach glass!  (Random tidbit:  I have jars and jars of beach glass - and while I hate it when people leave their beer bottles at the beach I always secretly hope that they become beach glass.....and I wish more beer companies bottled beer in cobalt and purple bottles :)  how about pink?!  I really need some pink beach glass!)  After oohing and aahing over the beach glass I followed the link to Jennifer Steen Booher's Etsy shop Quercusdesign.  I loved her beach combing photographs.  I especially love that she is from Bar Harbor, Maine.  I took a peek at her blog - which was like a little fix of Maine - no wonder I love her!

The little old ladies at my church can make butter out of any fruit imaginable.  I think the yummiest fruit butters for sure come from Hawai'i.  My best friend just gave away Lilikoi Butter as her wedding favor...yum-o!  That being said, I ran across a collection of butters & curds.  If I was home I'd be making fruit butter.  (How disgusting is the word curd?!  It sounds repulsive....if you asked me if I wanted to eat a curd I'd have to say no thank you.)

Sadly, I didn't take too many photos this week.  I'm about to check out a bike and go on a photo safari :)
